Hordes of kids and their teachers from other island schools descended on the playing field and Ladies Aid building for fun, stories, snacks, and overnight camping.

Ashley BryanOn Thursday Ashley Bryan animated a poetry-reading session, inviting the little scholars to join him in reciting some choice pieces, and encouraging them to enjoy reading and to write their own poems.

Korean War Service Medal Presentation Ceremony, 12 noon in the Ballfield (in the Congregational Church in case of rain.)  Public welcome.

Vice Admiral Gregory Johnson, a native Mainer, and soon to take command of the entire US Sixth Fleet, visits Great Cranberry Island to present Ada Rice and her sisters Pauline Bunker, Leona MacAllister, and Charlene Allen with the Korean War Service Medal on behalf of their brother, Edgar "Eddie" Bunker, who died in action in Yonchon, Korea, 8 October 1951.
