Only a short distance from Bar Harbor, Great Cranberry Island is accessible by passenger ferries that leave on a regular and daily schedule from Northeast Harbor or Southwest Harbor/Manset. The Red House has two sections connected by a utility room with a washer and dryer.  There is also a detached barn.  Each of these three areas is rented separately.  Rental includes use of a van on the island.

The Front section The front section (closest to the street) has four bedrooms -- two upstairs with half bath, and two downstairs with full bath -- plus a living room with fireplace, full kitchen, and large dining room. This area was built ca. 1769-1860.

The Barn The barn has an apartment on the second floor, with one bedroom, full bath (shower), full kitchen, dining area, living room with sofa-bed, and an observation loft. The apartment was completed in 1999.
